BRIAN ACOSTA

Brian Acosta is the founder and CEO of Matrix Business Capital, a United States Based Equipment Finance Company that offers equipment financing and operating capital solutions to small and medium sized businesses nationwide in the United States and Canada.
A graduate from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo in 1995, he spent his first five years after college working in the telecommunications industry. In just 90 days he became the #1 top producer for a Fortune 200 company, out of over 800 national sales representatives. He was recruited to Dallas, Texas to set up a national telecom long distance program throughout the U.S. and Canada for a Dallas, Texas based publicly traded company.
His career in the equipment finance industry began in January 2000, he spent his first 7 months in the industry working at a mid-ticket equipment finance company based out of Downtown Los Angeles California focused on financing transactions between $100,000.00 – $5,000,000.00. This experience was positive and ignited a desire to offer a more premium service and personalized approach to developing relationships and servicing vendors that sell equipment too small-to-medium sized businesses, and startup businesses. He transitioned to a small ticket finance company based out of Irvine California, focusing on financing transactions in the $10,000.00 to $250,000.00 range, beginning in the trenches and making over 150 out-bound cold calls per day, he successfully built a strong book of repeat clients and vendors. Brian spent 5 years as the #1 top producer. Brian had a desire to offer a higher level of service to his clients and vendors. He began searching for a company that would allow him to increase his service offering, and after searching the industry and not being able to identify any companies able to offer the level of service and resources he felt was possible he founded Matrix Business Capital.
Brian founded Matrix Business Capital in 2006, after 6 years of being in the industry, he obtained his Certified Leasing Professional (CLP) certification and obtained a California Lenders License. He has established a network of the best funding sources in the industry. He has built an elite team of the most experienced and knowledgeable equipment finance professionals in the industry. Brian’s clients and vendors he serves are 100% referral based. Brian focuses on ensuring every client and vendor he works with have a 5-star experience.
Brian was originally introduced to the industry from 3 different colleagues all working in different sectors of the market. He came into the industry for the tremendous career opportunity and quickly became fascinated with his ability to help businesspeople get funding for their businesses. He enjoys learning about his client’s needs for the business, vision, and goals and helping them achieve all their finance needs at the best possible finance solution available on the market. He believes properly qualifying people is the most important aspect of the process and a major key to success to ensure no time is wasted for clients or vendors and to ensure value can be delivered every time he works with a businessperson. If a client is better off financing with their local bank or paying cash, he will determine this upfront and ensure they make the best decision. Once he knows a client is properly qualified and he can deliver the best possible finance solution, he then strives to set good expectations, be transparent, and process the transaction timely. Brian believes these are the key elements to delivering a great experience and developing long term relationships with the people he serves.
Brian grew up in Santa Cruz County in Northern California where he played football and wrestled for Aptos high school. He was an All-County football player and California State Wrestling State Placer and recognized as the second-best wrestler in Aptos High Schools 50 years of wrestling history earning a spot on the legends wrestling wall of fame. He then competed for 5 years as an NCAA division 1 collegiate wrestler. He attended Arizona State University for his first year of college because they were the top wrestling team in the nation at that time, he then transferred to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to finish out his wrestling career and complete his college education. Brian is passionate about fitness. He participates in running events, HIIT training, MMA, and triathlons. Brian’ enjoys swimming, biking, running, and strength training. As a triathlete Brian completed 11 Ironman events and competed in the Kona Ironman World Championships. He also competed in MMA entering the Octagon twice. Brian likes listening to Audibles, Podcasts, and Reading Books to continually learn new things. Brian enjoys getting good sleep, eating a fruit-based diet, and consistent exercise!
